After months of being bundled up indoors, springtime sunshine is finally, though quite slowly, shining its light back across Chicago (and specifically, the Chicago’s Gold Coast).  Now, as we shake off our cabin fever, everyone is ready to spring into those warmer temperatures and start enjoying the season’s many exciting events.

From concerts to fashion shows to fundraising galas and so much more, this April’s events are sure to satisfy every interest, style, and taste.  So, as we usher in this long-awaited Spring, let’s take a closer look at some of the top events happening around the Gold Coast neighborhood:

Walt Matzke’s Four Pianos

When:  April 20th from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where:  Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St.

Piano Philharmonic is coming to Chicago this spring.  The evening will feature four exceptional pianists playing, masterfully and in tandem, on four grand pianos.  They will play a variety of familiar musical favorites from classical to Broadway and pop to Hollywood film themes.

Northwestern Medicine Osher Center Annual Benefit

When:  April 18th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where:  Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 E. Delaware Pl.

Friends and neighbors are invited to The Northwestern Medicine Osher Center’s annual benefit.  The evening will feature speaker Tieraona Low Dog, MD, author of Life is Your Best Medicine.  All proceeds will support the NM Osher Center’s mission to blend conventional medicine with complementary and integrative therapies aimed to help patients optimize their health and prevent chronic disease.  Tickets to this event are $500 each.

Porchlight Music Theatre Announces Its 2018 ICONS Gala

When:  April 15th at 10:30 a.m.

Where:  The Ritz-Carlton Chicago/A Four Seasons Hotel, 160 E. Pearson St.

This year’s ICONS Gala celebrates the nearly 80-year career of Broadway and film legend Fred Astaire with featured performances from Chicago’s leading talents.  Tickets to this event are $150 per adult and $50 per child.

Chicago’s Fashion Week: Eco-Friendly

When:  April 26th at 6:00 p.m.

Where:  Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St.

As a part of Chicago’s Fashion Week, powered by FashionBar, this presentation of the House of Flayva will showcase collections inspired by futuristic, eco-friendly designs by local designers.  In addition to the fashions, guests will enjoy a hosted cocktail bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres as they take in the Fall/Winter collection for 2018.

Howardena Pindell at the Museum of Contemporary Art

When:  Through May 20th

Where:  Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave.  

The MCA presents the work of groundbreaking, multidisciplinary artist Howardena Pindell.  The exhibition spans the New York-based artist’s 50-year career and features her early figurative paintings, pure abstraction and conceptual works as well as personal and political pieces.  The exhibition traces themes and visual experiments that run throughout her work up to the present.
